Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Instructor and musician. That is what we do and all we do. But we help our students learn to write, perform and record! Miles beyond simple guitar lessons.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. We will instill in your student ( ages 7-18) an increased love of music and will give them the opportunity to create music anyway they want to do it! It's not what we like, it is what they like!

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Music can only be done right if you love what you do. If you see lights and colors inside your head. Rarely does anyone play and perform music for money alone. In L.A> you'll starve. It's all about loving the music.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. Our studio is in one of the coolest, most beautiful building in So Cal, the Pasadena American Legion Hall. Our students can perform LOUD and PROUD and we will help them create any kind of music they want, with their equipment ot ours!

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. My partner Tommy and I have great patience in working with young people ( it helps that I teach high school "at-risk" youth) and we both have a love and passion for all things musical and lyrical. We pass this on to our students and in return, they produce amazing music.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I love watching young people collaborate and create together the great art of music from scratch. It is amazing to watch young musicians mold and form their music together.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. How do you have so much patience and how do you direct these young people to work together. Music is Life! It brings all of us together and it is a natural blending agent!

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. The first song our classes ever created was called "SCHOOL". I assumed the kids would say they hated school and "school stinks." But my small group of middle school musicians came up with a masterpiece of a song about : "hanging out with our buddies", "luch time", "P.E" amd my favorite line "about dunking the Principal in the dunk tank at the school fair" SPLASH!

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. It takes inspiration and perspiration to write songs that reach others. It also takes courage to stand up in front of people and perform your art. You stand naked to the world!

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I have been a guitarist-songwriter since age 9 ( I am now 55). I never get tired of playing music and I always wanted to perform and write since childhood.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. Our classes ( about 12 boys and girls) went on a performance tour, playing at the Irvine Police Fun Faire, then playing in front of a 1000 people in Monrovia Park.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. We constantly keep up to date because Tommy and I are also working/gigging musicians.

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. Recording gets simpler due to technology and it becomes pretty convenient. However songwriting hasn't really changed since the beginning of time.

Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.

A. I recorded my students in a boys prison on a 12 song CD, which took us about two months to write songs and complete recording. We call the CD the Innocents!

Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.

A. Same price, for all students and classes. 10 weeks for $500 which comes out to $50 a week for 90 minutes. Our students and parents consider it a bargain.

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?

A. Write your own music. Play as often as possible. Always keep talking to parents and kids about what you do!

Q. Write your own question and answer it.

A. What's so special about what you do?
Nobody does what we do, with the love we do it with!
