My mission as your wedding celebrant is to help you create not only the day of your dreams, but to assist you in creating a ceremony that reflects your beliefs, values, and traditions in a way that honors each of you as individuals and as the couple you are becoming.

Regardless of whether you desire a religious, spiritual, or secular ceremony (or a combination thereof), and regardless if you desire a private, intimate joining or a large celebration of your union, your ceremony should reflect all that you are and all that you intend to become together.

Customized ceremonies by certified Life-Cycle Celebrant Stacy Mitchell speak to who you are as individuals and as a couple, utilizing the art of symbolism and ritual to create a ceremony that is wholly you!

The celebrant motto: "your voice, your choice, your ceremony"!

Question and answer

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Many officiants have had little or no training in creating and leading ceremonies. Some have also had limited experience in public speaking. In contrast, as a certified Life-Cycle Celebrant®, I have undergone intense training in the spiritual, cultural, ritual, and psychological elements of ceremony and have passed a rigorous public speaking exam.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. What is your training in creating and leading ceremony?

Do you create custom ceremonies rooted in the uniqueness of our relationship?

Will I/we have complete control over our ceremony elements and wording or are we limited to choosing one or two readings to be inserted in a pre-written ceremony?

Do you attend the rehearsal? Do you charge extra to do so?

What does your price include?

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. 1. The general location or venue you would like to be married.
(hint: I serve the San Luis Obispo County California area of the Central Coast; travel charges may apply if outside of that area)

2. An idea of your overall budget and where your officiant fits into this budget.
(hint: my prices start at $250 for an elopement with one witness and go up from there depending on your needs!)

3. If you do not value quality service and desire to be an active participant in the creation of your ceremony, then I may not be the officiant you are looking to hire.
(hint: I ask a lot of questions in order to get to know you and what type of ceremony you desire to create. The less you are willing to tell me, the less I am able to create a truly unique and fully customized ceremony)

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. As a member of the Celebrant Association of North America & Canada, I am in constant contact with fellow Life-Cycle Celebrants across the globe through email, phone, text and video chat, and social media outlets. We share ideas, questions, political action, and solutions to difficult situations on a a daily basis. I also participate in committees and educational seminars as they become available. It is a great thing to be involved with my Celebrant Family!!

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. On a state by state basis, Life-Cycle Celebrants are on the front line with our fellow GLBT travelers to make same-sex marriage legal. I am happy to say that I have many opposite sex couples recently request something be said during their weddings to mark their solidarity as well. At the present time, California does not recognize same-sex marriages, however I will continue to offer commitment ceremonies for these couples until such time as I can legally pronounce you married!
