Hello!

What I am:

I am a Los Angeles area therapist with experience working with the behavioral needs of children and adults. I have experience with ASD, Emotional regulation, MMR & other developmental delays. I am a former teacher, and enjoy tutoring at any skill level in literature/English skills, ESL, test prep, history, math and science. I have over 7 years of experience. My specialties in counseling include individual and group relational counseling, grief and anger management. Sorry I do not accept insurance at the moment.

Therapy (adults):

I'm currently an MFT (Marriage and Family Therapist) intern. I am currently available for one-on-one and group/family counseling. I have experience working with life transitions, grief counseling for adults and teen awareness. If you have the need for a therapist focused on cognition, or just need an active listener to help you out of a difficult place in your life, contact me for a free phone assessment.

My therapeutic service offers one-on-one meetings either in person or via phone. My rates are reasonable (read: flexible), and I will take certain circumstances in to consideration for billing. I look forward to an opportunity to meet (and grow with) you.

Children Services: Behavioral therapy (primarily for children with special need, 6-18 years of age):

My experience with children is in ABA, RDI, Floortime, child-led play therapy and problem solving techniques. If you are not familiar with these I have simple documentation you may read to help you learn my processes in working with children. My most effective activities include physical activities (basketball, golf and hiking), building confidence and self-help skills, and art therapy (multi-media, creative writing and poetry). As a tutor, I help discover problem areas, and practice, practice, practice. I've participated in IEPs and worked with college applications and entry examination study.

Get diverse help for your children without long assessment delays.

References are available upon request. My phone number and further contact information will be provided upon booking.

"Booking" is for assessment and information only. No commitment is necessary, so if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask!

I was really afraid that my son was getting to much therapy that was rigid. Now my son looks forward to Joe's visits and the basketball game that he gets to play every week with him. He has brought him out of his shell. A real miracle worker.

Jamal is a great kid; we STILL work together after three years on his behavior concerns. Two months ago he hit his teams game-winning shot in one of their playoff games! Talk about icing on the cake.

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. When looking for a therapist, do your best to gauge your feelings and go with someone you feel at ease with. Be honest with your instincts to select someone you connect with enough and be upfront. As much as you know about yourself, you will be amazed at just how much there is to learn.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. ABA is not the only method for dealing with behavioral and developmental delays. Sadly, many companies solely focus on this method. Keep an open mind.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. My journalism skills and my enjoyment for activities such as games, exercise, reading are incorporated with my skills in organization, meaningful attention building, and enthusiasm working with people stand out as a personal attributes that help me keep clients on a long-term basis.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I enjoy the daily improvements that are always visible.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. What do you do? Since most people want to know what type of therapy I do, it is important that they know I have a background in a number of different techniques. ABA, though the most widely accepted method by companies that are too large to specialize in particular needs, I explain exactly what techniques may work with the needs of the client.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. Do you know I have a class in Culver City called Gluten Free Arts? Go to www.glutenfreeart.com and enroll your child soon! Classes are small, so your child will get individual assistance throughout our workshops.
Classes run on a continuous basis, three to four times per year. Sliding scale, if you can't pay the full amount, contact me and I'll see what I can do.
