Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. The best advice I could offer to someone looking for a hardwood flooring installer or refinisher is EXPERIENCE, EXPERIENCE, EXPERIENCE!

Find a seasoned and skilled tradesman with YEARS of experience under his/her belt. I have had many, many jobs over the years where I have had to go in and fix a customers floor that a "green" tradesman previously had attempted to sand or install new floors and failed.

This can be very costly to a customer. Beware...like the old adage says...You get what you pay for!

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. That's simple!

It's all about experience and expertise!

Cal Floors has been serving the Bay Area since 1984. The owner has a lifetime of experience in the hardwood flooring industry, and in the hardwood flooring industry EXPERIENCE COUNTS! It takes many years for a tradesman to become highly skilled and able to deliver a quality harwood floor - whether its a new install, refinish or a custom border, stain or inlay. Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. At Cal Floors we believe that creating beautiful hardwood floors are more of an art than just a trade. I absolutely love the creative process of either bringing an old floor back to its original beauty or installing a brand new gorgeous floor for my clients. Seeing the final result and the smile on my clients faces is truly what it's all about for me.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Well truthfully...the most common question I get is:
Which is better water base or polyurethane finish?

My answer is that it depends on what you want.

Polyurethane finish in my experience has a better quality and look to it and holds up better under wear and tear.

Water base is better in the sense that you will avoid many of the toxic chemicals that come with the polyurethane, but it is more fragile and will need a fresh coat sooner than the polyurethane.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I am a 3rd generation hardwood flooring craftsman. My Grandfather and Father came before me. I started helping my Father work on hardwood floors when I was just 10 years old. By 16 I was a journeyman tradesman. It has always been the family business. I have 3 brothers who are also highly skilled hardwood flooring craftsman. I guess you could say that it's in my blood.
