Poway Guitar Lessons

Introduction: All ages are encouraged. I provide lessons for beginners to intermediates. My lessons are never boring. You start playing the day you walk in. You can play any style you want—rock, alternative, pop, punk, country, blues, and classical. You just bring the songs you want to play! You can get real-world experience by playing with live accompaniment. You will learn to read tablature, music, and chord charts; you can even learn how to play by ear! With my 25 years of experience, you will learn fast. Take guitar lessons from a pro teacher! Total beginners are encouraged. I have played for 30 years and have been a gigging musician since my teens. I am a full-time music teacher. No matter what style you're into, we can find some songs by your favorite artists and get you playing them. (Even if you've never picked up the guitar before!) I have a good track record with beginner/intermediate-level players and getting them on track, improving, and taking an interest in practicing. Playing styles like punk, alternative, metal, indie, blues, classic rock, etc. are pretty easy when you get down to it. Learn one song and you'll realize you can already play 20 others. It's all about having a good, patient teacher who makes sure you make the right choices as far as what to work on. Now, that doesn't mean I'm going to assign you a lesson plan. We'll only play tunes by your favorite bands/artists. Bring in any CD and I'll teach you from it on the spot. You can learn electric blues chops along the lines of Stevie Ray, Magic Sam, Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters, BB King, Freddie King, Jimi Hendrix, etc. You can also learn the fingerstyle country blues of artists like John Hurt, Fred McDowell, Taj Mahal, Big Bill Broonzy, and Lightnin Hopkins. You can also decide to learn the slide guitar style of artists like Son House, Kelly Joe Phelps, Warren Haynes/Allman Bros., John Mooney, Bukka White, Robert Johnson, Ben Harper, Bonnie Raitt, etc. I have a huge backlog of songs, riffs, and exercises that can get your chops up in any/all of those styles. You can also bring in your favorite CDs and learn from those. I'm a touring musician and well-versed in all of those playing styles and have taught them for years. I also provide bass, classical and Latin guitar lessons. You will learn to play the classical, Spanish guitar and learn how to read music, proper right and left hand positions, scales, arpeggios, and beautiful repertoire. Beginners are welcome, as well as advanced. I have many years of experience with children, teenagers, and adults.
