Fine oil portraiture is for people who appreciate talent and fine workmanship. To me, it's similar to a good wrist watch. You could get a $10.00 quartz watch that will keep excellent time but may not last very long, and you'll be wearing plastic that won't look like a Rolex or any of the other fine luxury brands. More importantly, each time you look at the quartz watch, you will not get the same feeling as looking at that Rolex or other fine brand. Many people do still go out and buy a Rolex, even though it costs more, because they understand and appreciate the quality of the high-end mechanical wrist watch that doesn't contain a battery or computer chip, but the craftsmanship of a human being. Portraiture is much the same. Yes, you can go out and simply take a photo if that is your only interest. However, our clients look at commissioning a portrait as a way to continue a tradition that has has been strong and solid for hundreds of years by the upper echelon of society throughout Europe and the United States -- for presidents, senators, congressmen, religious leaders, popes, businessmen and women, as well as families who are proud and love their mothers, fathers, grandmothers, grandfathers, and children.
