Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.
A. I typically do Bridal makeup as weddings are my specialty. I love being a part of the most special day of someone's life! Photos last a lifetime, so the Bride wants to look flawless in them, and I ensure that she does. The trick to good Bridal makeup is creating the perfect balance between "natural" and "dramatic", ensuring that the Bride's makeup looks defined in photos but not over-the-top. I guarantee a long-lasting makeup application that looks flawless and defined in photos!
I don't only do makeup for weddings though. I also do makeup for photo-shoots, advertisements, etc. I'm open to doing all kinds of makeup, and I love a challenge!
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Make sure the provider is legitimate! Most professionals will require a contract to book their services. This is to protect both you and the provider. I've had countless clients request my services last minute because the person they originally hired flaked out on them. This has happened to numerous brides right before their wedding day (true, but tragic story!). A contract will ensure that everyone stays true to what was initially agreed upon. Also, services and rates can typically be negotiated (within reason), so don't be afraid to ask!
Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?
A. Do they require a contract? Especially for weddings, you want a professional that requires a contract to book their services. A contract protects both the vendor AND the client. It also outlines everything and gets it on paper, so there's nothing left to assumption. You don't want to assume that lashes are included, and then come to find out, they're not.
Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?
A. I've always been artistic with a craving for creativity. For several years, I attended art school where I studied painting, photography, digital art, printmaking, sculpture, etc. I also attended cosmetology school where I focused on hair and makeup. I ended up combining my passion for art with my education in cosmetology by making the face and hair my canvases. I always say that Makeup and Hair are women's best accessories! You can change them from day to day, so get creative, and have fun with them!
