I provide customized training for each clients training needs. I do not believe there is only one way to train dogs. I work with each client and their dogs to determine what works for them.
I have been involved in training, showing breeding and competing with dogs for over 35 years. I am an American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen Evaluator and member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. I have trained service dogs, including guide dogs, hearing alert dogs and therapy dogs.
Many of my clients prefer private training. However, I do offer group classes for socialization.
My goal is to provide you and your dog a happy companionship. I handle basic manners and obedience as well as behavior isues. All training needs are welcome.
Question and answer
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Ask for credentials. Is the provider a member of any organizations in which you can verify. What are you specific training needs? Can this person meet your expectations?
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. For dog trainers, check to see if the trainer is affiliated with any major organization. Anyone can say they can train dogs, but do they have proof? Are they recognized by a recognized organization?
Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?
A. What is your background in training dogs? What have you accomplished with your own dogs? How long have you been working in training dogs other than your own? What can you offer to my specific situation? What credentials do you have?
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. I don't believe in a "cookie cutter" approach to dog training. Each dog, owner and family dynamic is different. My training is geared toward each dog and situation. My goal is to provide the right training tools for the dog owner to achieve the desired result for their companion dog. I am a mobile dog trainer and work on a one-to-one basis with each dog and family.
Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?
A. There are so many new and inventive activities that folks can now do with their dogs. I am active in learning and training my own dogs in these activities and pass these options on to my clients. In addition, I attend yearly seminars that address various issues, such as aggression, seperation anxiety, fear, etc. Training is constantly evolving and one can always learn from others in the field and pass that on to clients.
