I am a semi-retired licensed general contractor skilled in inspecting and repairing all types of buildings at handyman rates with 30 years of experience. I've built log homes in Alaska and custom homes in California. Moreover, I have reliably maintained residential and commercial properties and apartment buildings.
My career includes CRIA commercial and home inspections, FEMA disaster relief, and mentoring aspiring youth in the building trades.
I am seeking small repair jobs such as maintaining residential or commercial buildings. I have the knowledge, tools, and experience to repair anything from simple toilet leaks and touch-up painting to running a skilled crew for large projects. I am available for 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Question and answer
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. What is vitally important is the expression in work of my inner beauty and strength as a human being. And since I feel that every person's home is their Castle - their unique expression of themselves as beauty and strength - I am privileged to help restore their Castle to wholeness.
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. I have generations of builders in my family tree, and a lifetime of personal experience in all building trades. The old world tradition of fine craftsmanship is found in the quality of my work as a building "artist". Working with you, we together can make your repair experience a joyful experience - one that is done right at the right price.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. I love using my hands and mind to creatively solve people's problems with their property. I also really enjoy working along side an owner if he or she wishes to learn more about their property.
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. The first question is What do you charge? My rate is $45 to $55 per hour. Second question is Why so much when I can hire someone cheaper? My answer is that my work is guaranteed to be safe, correct according to the latest building codes (I am also an building inspector), and as a semi retired contractor, affordable.
Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?
A. If I were just starting out, I would want to find an "old school" craftsman like myself that has learned the art of construction from his father. And someone that wants to pass on the years of experience to the next generation.
Q. Write your own question and answer it.
A. What is the most important factor when inspecting or repairing a property? The most important factor is safety. The building codes are adopted as a minimum standard of construction to insure the safety of occupants - not as just a building standard. My job is to ensure maximum safety by adhering to professional standards. And to do so in an artistically pleasing way.
