Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.
A. We support our clients with unconditional, non-judgmental assistance. As doulas, we are comfortable with home or hospital birth and can assist with births in either of these environments. For postpartum support, we are there to help parents make the important transition into life with a new baby. To prepare for birth, we facilitate Mother Blessings and offer comprehensive Birthing From Within childbirth classes that help to make you the hero of your own birth story, no matter the outcome. We support mothers 100%, explaining the pros and cons within all the options that are offered to them in a variety of birth & postpartum experiences.
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. We make the search for a doula easy. You visit us at www.myseasonswithin.com and tell us a little bit about the kind of doula you are seeking. We invite you to check out the doulas, and their bios, and visit the blog to find out a bit more about them. Once you select two or three doulas to interview, we will gather them at one place so you can spend quality time with each of them in order to decide which doula seems to give you the strongest feeling of connection. Since we have a built-in back-up system, you have the assurance of an extra layer of support that is built into our support for you. If anything happens to the doula you choose, we have your back. We are here for you.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. If I was a customer of Seasons Within Doula Group, I would wish to know how this group operates within itself. How does this group of women cooperate in this process of serving birthing families in our community? The answer lies in several layers. First, we are all of one mind in regard to birth. When do you go to a mother in labor? When she needs you! Can you have a natural birth in the hospital? Yes! Should we judge a mother if she needs pain relief during labor? No! Is a mother a failure if she births by Cesarean Birth? Definitely not.
The solid layer, on which our balance as a team rests, is: The Four Agreements, by Don Miguel Ruiz, which call us to: Be Impeccable With Your Word; Don't Take Anything Personally; Don't Make Assumptions; and Always Do Your Best. These value-based goals help us to bring healthy services to you, our community.
Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?
A. Although years of experience are important, the most important way to select your doula is through your intuition and sense of comfort with that person. You are inviting your doula into one of the most intimate moments of your family's life together. Yes...check her training, her credentials, and ask about her experience with birth. But in the end, trust your gut. Do you sense that this is the right person for you? Do you have a tiny lingering doubt? We encourage you to continue interviewing doulas until that moment when you know - deep within - "this is the doula for me." When you are true to your instincts, you will make the right choice.
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. Our strength as a Doula Group is that we each bring varied gifts to the table. You want a home birth? Or you want a natural birth in the hospital? We can help.
Seasons Within offers many added support options to your birth experience. We can facilitate a Mother Blessing to prepare you with a small group of your best women friends. We can give tips on how to prepare for breastfeeding before you birth and things to have on hand when you are at home on your own. We can help you to re-frame a traumatic birth experience, and bring healing to those memories, so you can enter this birth with positive energy. These things, and so many more, are available to you at Seasons Within.
