FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing is based on the following criterion: The piano's 1) Age 2) Condition / Past Service History 3) Distance (from servicing technician) An 80 year old piano, never been rebuilt, will obviously require a greater level of care and service than a new piano, never been used.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes. In addition to reading up on all the latest developments in our field, I study new/existing applications, methods, and processes of tuning, servicing, rebuilding. New experiences in the field in addition to annual conventions and correspondence courses, help to serve as continuing education mediums.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Are you seeking to hire a piano technician, or a piano tuner? How long has the technician been in business? Does he/she have any letters of recommendation and/or high profile clients/venues (concert halls, schools, studios, etc.) Does he/she carry insurance? If so, how much? Will the technician charge for a return service visit, long (days/weeks) after he/she has left? If so, how much does the visit cost? "How, specifically, do you guarantee your work?"
