Music lessons should be fun!

I provide piano lessons from beginner to intermediate ages 5 and up (adult beginners included). These include music reading, technique, theory, and ear training.

I also offer voice lessons (ages 8 and up) in classical and musical theater. I help with auditions and choral parts as well.

Come on and have fun!

Prices are $75 per month for one half-hour lesson a week (whether a four or five week month). I can make adjustments for those in special circumstances and referrals lower your monthly cost.

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Piano and Voice lessons

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Know their prices and policies.

Know their experience.

Check for references.

Ask for a trial period.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. The best performers don't always make the best teachers. The performers that have had to struggle to learn are often more able to offer the insights that have helped them reach their goals.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. Music lessons require lots of work on the students part to be successful! Daily practice means much more rapid results. No practice usually means no progress. Make sure the Parent is ready to facilitate practice if the student is a child. Children do not usually love to practice. They need lots of encouragement and structure to practice.

Do you have a piano or weighted keyboard to practice on? Can you set a specific time each day to practice? 10 minutes each day for young beginners. 20 minutes for older beginners. 30 minutes for adult beginners.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I make music fun! Positive feedback, positive reinforcement, extra measures of patience, concentration of fun choices and individuality :o)

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. Helping people learn a new skill or getting more and more proficient. Bringing smiles to people's faces and joy to their hearts. Improving self-esteem and creativity. All the wonderful side benefits of learning music that music teachers provide to their students: increased concentration, memory, focus, rhythm... it's the rhythm of life!

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. How much does it cost? $75 per month: one 1/2 hour lesson each week whether 4 or 5 lessons per month, due at your first lesson of the month. I also offer special incentives for referrals.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. I had a voice student whose choir director had told her to stop singing. She was devastated. She love to sing! She came to me and within 6 months, she had not only learned to sing on pitch, she made the swing choir at her High School! She worked hard and followed my direction. I am very proud of her!

I also had an incredible piano student that went through over 3 years of material in less than a year! She was practice hungry. She loved it! And I loved seeing her blossom!

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I have loved music since I was born! My parents played classical music for me while I was still in the womb! Hoping that I would love it as they did :o)

I went to college, double majoring in music and science and just found that my love for making music stood out above all else.

I only wanted to perform in the beginning, but I found that teaching others to enjoy music was also great fun!

I love to see smiles on my students faces when they reach a new milestone or memorize a favorite piece of music!

Q. Write your own question and answer it.

A. Do you have a trial period?

Yes, I offer the first two lessons free, since we need to see if we are a good match!

Q. Write your own question and answer it.

A. Do you do make up lessons?

Usually. I try to be flexible, but I am very busy. If I miss a lesson for any reason, I will reschedule. If you have to miss a lesson and notify me a week in advance, I will reschedule. If you let me know the day of the lesson, or are a no-show, then I will not be able to make the lesson up unless it was a true emergency.

Q. Write your own question and answer it.

A. What books do you use?

The books depend on the student: age, degree of proficiency, interest...

I have used Alfred, Schaum, Faber and Faber, and Bastien systems. For solo pieces I have also used Martha Mier, Lynn Freeman Olson, and numerous classical composers. I have also written my own course very the very young beginner.

I spend a LOT of time finding the right music for each student!
