Barber Blues specializes in straight razor, hot towel shaves. Starting with a pre-shave treatment, we soften the hair and open the pores with hot towels. This process is extremely relaxing and may put you to sleep. Following the delicate shave, a post-shave treatment cools the skin and leaves you feeling rejuvenated. The shave experience takes us back in time and helps better understand the traditional barber shop.

Also need a haircut? Not a problem! Barber Blues also offers experienced barbers that can cut hair with clippers (with or without numbered guards), razors, or just plain scissors and a comb.

Drop in sometime or schedule an appointment to keep you from waiting. We look forward to meeting you.

Question and answer

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. I would like my customers to know that every shave is different. Not just different from his fellows, but also different due to conditions. For example, if someone just takes a shower, chances are the hair folicle is soft and the pores are open. However, the pores can close mid-shave needing a mid-shave treatment.

I would reccomend running hot water in sink to create steam, then hover directly over the steam for a minute to revigorate the skin. Then resume the shave. Up to three steam applications may be needed.

One last tip: Use quality products for the pre-shave (like a pre-shave oil) and post-shave (after shave lotion). And remember --Price does not always equal quality.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. There aren't many others in our industry providing straight razor shaves, however, we beleive our committment to a quality experience sets us apart.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. The people. The barber shop provides a relaxed atmosphere giving people the opportunity to be authentic. What a treat.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Was it scary opening your own business in these economic times?
Answer: In the beginning. However, as each day passes, we realize more and more, that our services make people feel good. Helping others to feel good can never be wrong.
