Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Obedience training, therapy dog work, doggy daycare, and boarding.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Email us...it's by far the best way to reach us!

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Not all trainers and boarding facilities are equal! Just because you ahve had a poor experience with one doesn't mean they are all the same.

We have had clients spend hundreds on training elsewhere, even at very high profile, well respected facilities, and get no results. After only 2-3 sessions with us, we can typically turn these dogs around and set a path for how to get to their training goal.

In addition our boarding is unlike any other place. We have a home like environment where dogs have space to run and play and interact. In this safe space, we have found most dogs really enjoy coming rather than fearing their kennel experience.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. All we ask is that you have an honest answer for your dog's issues and a training goal in mind.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. Our training is done by top dog trainers certified in dog training and expereienced with a wide variety of dogs and behaviors. Erin Kramer, lead trainer, trains in schutzhund, french ring, sheep herding, dock diving, frisbee, scent tracking, agility, lure coursing, and more!

Erin is an AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluator, foster home for Belgian Malinois Resuce, UAN animals in disaster volunteer, and certified dog trainer.

Our boarding is fun and allows your dog to gets tons of play time and social interaction.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I get to work with dogs....what's better than that!?

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. A lot of people ask about our training as they have been to other trainers and the training didn't work or didn't work well.

The simply answer is, it depends! Each dog and owner are different and any trainer who only adheres to one method is doing a diservice to clients and their dogs. There are many dogs that will work for food, toys, or affection and will listen to commands and follow instructions. That is not always the case for all dogs and sometimes a motivational correction is needed.

Finding a trainer that is flexible in approach and can custom tailor a program you are comfortable with is very important!

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. Too many to write! I get to spend my days snuggling with dogs, playing in the play yards, and helping clients get a better relationship with their dogs!

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. How proffesional we are and the passion and love we have for dogs!

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I have always loved animals and in paticular dogs. It seemed like a perfect fit to work with people and their dogs.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. In the last week my own personal dog got picked to be on a Discovery TV show recreating famous crimes. He is featured as a police dog. The director loved him so much, we got invited back to do 2 more epiodes. Yay Tripp!

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. We are always attending seminars, maintaining training and dog training clubs, and working with other top trainers to ensure our skills are the best they can be!

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. Just that more and more people are seeing the value in training. A small training investment early on, can save you years of headache and create a much better relationship with your pup.

Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.

A. We recently did a board and train with a crazy, fun, hyper, over the top lab puppy. He wanted to bite everyone, hump, bark, and had tons of accidents inside. After a carefully laid out training plan, clear rules in place, potty training in full effect, training collar on, and lots of socialization and exercise, his mom has reported back that following the board and train, he is a new dog.

They were almost going to have to get rid of him due to barking but now have a quiet, calm dog.

Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.

A. Pricing is very simple and on the website.

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?

A. We are currently in the process of opening a dog trainer's academy just north of Sacramento. It's important to get a formal education with lots of hands on (not online) coursework. We encourage you to shoot us an email with questions. We plan on starting coursework Sprin 2011.

Q. Write your own question and answer it.

A. What breed of dog do you own?

I have a mutt, 3 Belgian Malinois, and a German Coolie.
