Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. Although doing your own flowers is a option (which I can help you with) understand that arranging flowers is harder then it looks. If you are going to under take doing your own flowers it's best to get some training first. Flowers take work and time which you may not have a lot of right before your wedding. It may be more work then you thought, and thats on of the reasons why flowers cost so much. Flowers need to be cut, dipped in a soultion, place in water with food, sprayed, cooled, and then babied. When arraning you will have to do it a couple of times just to get it to look right. So if you are thinking of saving money by doing your own flowers, ask yourself, do I have the time, talent, and tolerance (not to throw it against the wall when doesn't look right)

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. First I have always wanted to own a buiness, and have owned several, including my babysitting I did as a teenager. I love art and crafts. I got a job at a florist shop right after my oldest was born. Then I feel in love...with flowers. I worked at other shops and took classes at the local college in floral design. I did my friends wedding flowers, which then got me hooked on wedding flowers. After working at shops, I decided to venture out on my own and open my own business. Even though I didn't grow up in a florist shop, I was always around some kinda of art. My mother and grandmother were both into arts and crafts and they instill there love of art in me, and flowers is the way I express my art.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. I love keeping up on the trends. I love buying new wedding and flower realted books. I just rentcently went to a wedding flower show where they show cased all the new and up coming trends in weddings. I've took floral classes at the local college. I also on YouTube all the time and looking at tends and design ideas. Whenever there is a class to has anything to do with weddings or flowers I'm there!
