The Neighborhood Nerd and Alan Weinstock have been our service provider for all of our computer needs since 2007.
True to it's name, onsite service when and where we need it. In our neighborhood, where the computers are - not where and when a store is open. And we don't have unplug, lift, ship or haul around anything!
Alan's helped us out with keeping our systems clean and at peek performance.
We met Alan after we'd had a couple of computer crashes from viruses - he rescued us from them and set up a reasonable backup solution.
The Neighborhood Nerd has also helped with the installation of our HD TV (wall mounted), the Wii, PS3, Direct TV/Tevo system - all of which runs like a charm.
We've had him build (and upgraded) several computer systems for my own business, our bookkeeper and my husband's company over the years. And he really out did himself with a custom system I had him build for my husband's music interests a few years ago - all blinged out with software to capture, edit and rip music - MIDI, extra drives for burning disks, ram and even kool led lites - my husband loves his custom computer!
And we love The Neighborhood Nerd - you should call and see how they can help you.

A. It seems that the things we fix come and go in trends. This month it's been Xbox360's and PS3 fixes. Mostly we fix what are called the Red Ring of Death, and the Yellow Light of Death. Both of these are the terms used for the error state these systems go into when they've overheated too many times and are in need of repair
A. They say none gives service like a business owner. The two techs that work for this company are both highly skilled and heavily invested in the company, and we do our utmost to make our service the best in the industry
A. We are one of the only service companies who do Playstation 3 repairs on-site and same day, and one of the few who also repair Nintendo Wii's and Xbox 360's. We also do not leave a job unfinished.
A. I enjoy finding and eliminating new and unusual problems with computers and viruses. I absolutely love building custom computers for my customers
A. Q: What kinds of service do you do?
A: We perform all kinds of services related to computers, networks, entertainment centers, video game consoles and PC's. The most common services we perform are Virus/Spyware Removals, Data Retrieval, Home Network and DSL setups, and Custom PC Builds. For a more complete list please check our service or prices pages.
Q: How much does it cost for you to come look at my problem?
A: Nothing! Our on-site evaluations are completely free with no obligation. We will come to your home or place of business and give you a quotation upfront before we start working. Not until we are finished working and your problem has been solved to your satisfaction do we take payment.
Q: What kind of payment do you take?
A: We take cash, check, or credit card through Paypal and Google Checkout.
Q: Do you need to take my computer away to work on it?
A: In most cases no. We can complete our work in the convenience your own home or office while you watch or wait. In some cases, like with a data retrieval or if you have a particularly stubborn virus, we will need to take your computer to our office where we have more powerful tools and equipment to work with.
Q: Can I drop my computer off with you and pick it up at a later date?
A: Absolutely! We can also arrange to have your system picked up if you would prefer to save gas.
Q: Will you set up email, Paypal, Ebay, or other types of accounts?
A: Sure! We have a great deal of experience setting up various accounts like ATT DSL, Skype or MagicJack phone service, Outlook or Windows Live Mail programs, or even things like Xbox Live!
Q: How do you compare to other local or national services?
A: We are a small local business with 9 years of industry experience. We know that a happy customer makes us a happy business, and we make it our job to make your day better. We deal fairly with our customers by having no minimum charge and giving completely free evaluations. Our rates are competitively low, but our service and customer support is far superior. We make it our business to get your issue solved without headaches or an empty wallet.
Q: What do you do to keep me virus free after cleaning my system?
A: We provide a full security suite for each system we disinfect which includes an Antivirus, three Antispyware utilities, and a system tune up program. We will demonstrate regular maintenance steps you can take to keep your system clean as well as educate you on threats and vulnerabilities.
Q: What kind of guarantee do you have on your service?
A: For most services we offer we have a two week free support policy, which means that if you experience any issues related to the work performed within two weeks of the completion of your service call, we will do everything necessary to get you back up and running in a timely fashion. We also have a two week return policy for parts and equipment, but may need to charge a 15% restocking fee depending on the item in question.
A. This week I successfully built a modified cable and plug to allow me to use a full 3.5" desktop hard drive with my PS3. Still testing the limits of how large a harddrive I can use on it, but I've confirmed several different 500GB drives and found that one 2TB drive does not work. Planning on building or adapting an enclosure to ac as a stand for the whole PS3 and contain the harddrive, as well as supply the addtional power required.
A. We run what's called a "honeypot" computer designed for the express purpose of attracting and contracting computer infections. We then attempt to disinfect the system to learn how new viruses and malware react to our current methods, and formulate new ways of cleaning out viruses without needing to completely wipe a computer
