About
I believe my work stands out from other tutors because I try to connect with the person I am tutoring. I want them to be able to listen to me easily, and also have fun learning. I come up with interesting activities to help the student understand and remember the things I am teaching them. The thing that I like most about my job is being able to take what I've learned and reteach it. I love the "lightbulb" look on a student's face when they finally start to understand what I'm talking about. Helping people is a big part of my life, no matter how I go about it.

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I decided to become a (paid) tutor shortly after graduating high school. I loved tutoring my sisters and friends throughout grade school and figured I could make some money for it to support myself. It has been very rewarding to help students feel better about themselves and their classes. I will probably be tutoring throughout my entire college experience, picking up more skills and harder classes as time goes on.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

My most common type of job is tutoring. Even when I was younger, I helped my 4 siblings with all of their homework and studying. I have always had a passion for learning. Besides that, I worked as a receptionist/assistant for a paralegal for a year in high school, learning how to speak/act professional and do a bunch of paperwork!

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I strongly advise a parent/student looking to hire a tutor to do some research before picking the first person that comes up in a search. You want to know that the person you are paying and letting into your home can be trusted to do their job. I would also advise looking for pictures of the prospective tutor and initially having a conversation on the phone before meeting them.
