I make visits to a client's home to look after their pets (mainly cats and dogs) while they are away. I have been pet sitting for 8 years and have many excellent references.
I walk dogs, feed them, provide water for them, give them TLC, and play with them. For cats, I do the same but also keep the litter box clean. I provide medications when it is called for. The animals I work with are happy to see me and I feel very close to all the pets I work with. I also take in the paper and mail, water the plants inside and out, and carry out other tasks which may be needed. Pets come to like me and are comfortable with me very quickly. The owners also often comment how healthy and happy their pets have been in my care.
I offer my services to people in the greater Sacramento area.
I volunteered walking SPCA dogs for two years. I rely mostly on repeat customers for my services.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. I provide pet sitting and dog walking for customers. I also do housesitting, either with or without pets. I have been doing this work for over eight years. I am gentle and caring for the pets, even when they misbehave. They don't fit into child psychology but into dog and cat psychology. My initial visits sometimes include pets that are very territorial or aggressive. It is my job to calm them down so I can take them for a walk. This includes giving them a treat or carrots or apples or peanut butter. I worked as a volunteer at the SPCA for a couple of years, receiving training on the behavior of dogs and a lot of experience with a
large variety of dogs.
A side benefit which customers can receive is a photograph or photographs of their pets. As a professional photographer, I have found many appreciative pet owners being delighted with candid shots of their pets.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. What I like most about the jobs I do with animals is the TLC I give, petting them, playing with them and enjoying the diversity of breeds of animals and appreciate the variety of names assigned to the animals.
I have a solid list of very satisfied customers who appreciate the extra effort I take in making their pets comfortable and in going the extra mile when keys don't work or there isn't enough pet food available so I have to purchase some food because the owner is away. Also, when cats spit up or use the rug for their litter box, I thoroughly clean it up and keep the owner informed of the
pets' behavior and any behavior that might indicate a medical problem.
The clients and I compare notes on aspects of their animal's behavior, their needs, their unique personality traits, their ability to charm other people and myself..
