I believe it is not only my job to counsel each of my clients so that they understand the legal system, but it is also the way I have been practicing law my entire career. I grew up in South Dakota, the heartland of the Midwest, and was greatly influenced by my parents who taught me that a man’s reputation is built over a lifetime and can be destroyed in a split second. This has not only been the backbone of my life, but also the foundation of my criminal defense practice. My practice is built on honesty, ethics and integrity.

My son was arrested and 8 of the 15 charges were felonies (commercial burglary, identity theft, etc). I had narrowed down my search to 3 Attorneys, all with excellent ratings, reviews and experience. I am single parent with very limited funds, and after speaking to all three Attorneys, Mr Berg was the ONLY one that told me not to rush to spend money I don't have on my son. In fact, the other two scared me into thinking I needed to rush to hire them. Mr Berg said that he would look into seeing who my son's Public Defender was and see what he could find out - to determine if I needed to hire an Attorney. Mr Berg follow through with his promise (I have to admit I was surprised), and called me daily to give me updates on his quest to get some information for me. The last conversation yesterday was that he did not feet (at this time) that I needed to spend money on hiring him or any other Attorney. He spoke to my sons Public Defender, and gave me his name and phone number to have access to him. Mr Berg went over my sons charges and put my mind at ease. I had imagined the worse, and though my son should be punished, I was afraid he would be sentenced to extreme punishment. Mr Berg ended our conversation by telling me I could call him anytime and he would be happy to help me. My son has been an addict for a good 15 yrs, and with all the stress I've been going through, it was such a blessing to have my faith restored in an Attorney (as I've had bad experiences before). I highly recommend making a phone call to Mr Berg - he's an honest man!

I can't stress enough how much Michael Berg helped our dad with a legal case a few years ago. To this day, both my sister and I feel extremely lucky that we found him and that he took care of our dad's legal needs. He met with our family on a Sunday because of our crazy work schedules. Once we decided he was the best fit for our dads needs, (we interviewed several other attorneys), he took care of everything! Dealing with any criminal/legal issue is beyond stressful and we were so worried about the outcome for our dad.. but Michael handled everything with a very knowledgeable and reassuring nature and he got the very best possible outcome for our dad! I highly recommend his services! You'll be so happy that you did!

My boyfriend was recently charged with a serious crime and will be sentenced to State Prison. I hired an attorney who provided very little information and did even less work on his behalf. I was devastated and discouraged. I didn't know how to interpret the law as it applied to his sentencing. The attorney I hired wouldn't return my phone calls or provide any explanations. After doing hours of research online, becoming more confused, I found Michael Berg on Thumbtack. He was so kind. He took the time to explain the law to me. He was patient, genuine and honest. He listened, he answered a multitudequestions. He provided such a warmth at a time when I couldn't see through the storm clouds. He did all of this and I wasn't even a Client. Michael Berg is the BEST! I don't say that lightly because I am not easily impressed. He is smart, kind and knowledgeable. If I ever need an attorney again there is only ONE attorney I'd call and that's Michael Berg. I wish i could leave a rating higher than 5. He deserves a 100. Put your trust and case in Michael's hands, you'll be glad you did!

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

    The main reason my criminal defense practice has become so successful is the personal attention I devote to each client. When someone hires me, I am the attorney who will personally handle his or her case. I am the one that will deal with the prosecutors and judges on behalf of each of my clients. I make sure that my clients understand each step of the legal process and I stand beside them the entire time.
