I attended two workshops of 3 hrs each with Serena, in which she taught us a fantastic routine of Cha mixed with Salsa. It was quite challenging, but Serena was so positive and let us know she had the confidence in us that we could not only learn the routine, but go on afterwards to practice and perfect it ready for performance.
I appreciated Serena's no-nonsense approach and emphasis on using the alloted time well and there was still plenty of fun injected into the workshop.
There was a lot to take it, but being able to video it certainly helped. For the future, I would suggest perhaps spreading such a complex routine over a few more hours.
Serena has stayed in touch with our progress via special Facebook group, and I think this is a great tool.

Serena helped me become a two time World Champion salsa dancer. My first introduction with Serena, was when I was trying to get on her dance team. She asked me to dance with her. I think she wanted to see how I lead, and what type of moves I could do. What made the experience more interesting, is that she asked me questions while we were dancing. To be able to stay on beat, I had to synchronize my talking to the beat of the music. Interesting challenge, thinking of moves, keeping count with the music, and having a conversation. But it is an example of the innovative ways that Serena has of doing things.
I was with her dance team for several months, and what I learned from dancing her choreography, is that dance performances can be playful and fun. In her routine, she not only taught us the moves; but also how to play with our partners, and the audience, to convey the spirit of the music. This has been an invaluable lesson in my future performances.
Finally, Serena has been at the World Latin Dance Cup, both times that I have competed and won there. Even though she was busy preparing for her own competition, she took the time to give me some much needed support. The first time, there was some discussion of not giving us a trophy, as my partner and I were the only competitors in our category. She offered to talk to the officials on our behalf. I so appreciated her support at this very nerve wracking time. The second time at the WLDC, my partner and I ran into Serena and her partner at a 24-hr fitness studio in Las Vegas. Again, Serena took some time out from her own practice to watch our routine, and give us some much needed feedback on our performance, and a critical time for us. Serena didn't need to do this; but she just manages to help people at critical times, because that is the type of person she is.

She is amazing!!! I was so amazed to see her on a Gatorade commercial and dancing with the stars, and than to actually see her in front of my face and learn dance steps from her live. One of the best experiences in my life!!!! She is very skilled and talented and i can't wait to learn from her again!!!
