FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I am not currently set up to do group classes, so I only teach privates. I also don't have a facility of my own, so I need to go to the home of my clients in order to help them and their pet(s). I charge $35.00 per pet for a half hour private and $60.00 per pet for an hour private. These fees do not include transportation costs which will vary depending on client location.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently doing an internship with the Navy Marine Mammal Program here in San Diego (Point Loma Naval Base). Prior to the Navy program, I was at Shedd Aquarium in Chicago for 5 months learning how to train marine mammals using positive reinforcement. Shedd also has 3 dogs in their "collection". As an intern there, I learned how to train dogs the same way the Marine Mammal Trainers train the dolphins, beluga whales, sea lions, sea otters and birds.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I've always loved and been at the most ease around animals. With that as a base, I then discovered and became fascinated by learning theory. The rest is history.
