Introduction: I have been personally involved in fitness for over 30 years. My extensive understanding of physics as it relates to body mechanics allows my clients to achieve results at a high level of efficiency, without risk of serious injury. This knowledge and experience has proven invaluable, allowing me to assess each individual situation properly and adjust the training techniques accordingly. I got into this business for several reasons, and all of those still ring true today. Specifically, I love assisting anyone who wants to be the best person possible. This includes physical, mental. and emotional success. Seeing a client flourish is very satisfying and continues to motivate me to this day. I also simply enjoy being involved with fitness and learning any new techniques which I find relevant to a person's training.

I met John Switzer and began training with him almost 20 years ago now. Please believe me...I am a real person with real physical challenges including diabetes (with neuropathy) and a kidney transplant. John helped me get in shape both before and after my transplant surgery and numerous other surgeries since then. John understands the way the body works and knows what type of exercise/training will work for your particular health goals. He listens to you and respects your input and feedback. He is very dependable, trustworthy and committed. He always has the session workout planned and can easily adapt it along the way. John stays completely attentive to you during the entire workout...he's not on his cell phone or chatting with other people while you're trying to figure out how to do something! He'll explain and show you the correct way to perform each exercise and be by you for each rep to comment and correct your technique to ensure you never injure yourself. John doesn't try to "up sell" you on his services...you will receive his full attention and expertise for each and every session. He's not holding anything back..except loading the next heavier weight when you're ready. I recently turned 50 years old and feel and look better than I did at 30! John has helped improve my physical appearance and more importantly, he has raised my self-confidence and lowered my stress level. There are many people calling themselves personal trainers...John portrays the true meaning of both aspects...personal and training. You will experience the genuine love John has for fitness as he helps you help yourself to better health. I have really enjoyed working with John. He is an excellent personal trainer and he is always personable and attentive. I began seeing John for help getting over a knee injury and I am happy to say that I no longer have knee issues during hikes! He has also helped me with numerous other injuries over time. I mentioned that I had broken my shoulder years ago, and that I have never had the same range of motion since...and John began focusing on my shoulder...and it is completely normal again! I would highly recommend training with John. His knowledge of anatomy is exemplary and his ability to motivate you without being overbearing is wonderful!

I have now been training with John for about a month. The experience has not only met, but surpassed, my expectations. I am a 42-year-old female with a long history of being active and athletic, but a recent past of putting other things first. So while I know well what it is to be in shape, I am not now and exercise hasn't been a priority for more than a year. I needed someone to guide me in establishing a workout routine and provide me with the chance to regularly schedule time at the gym. I now workout with John three mornings a week. His experience in handing post-injury cases, sensitivity to correct form, and encouraging but firm style are all worthy of mention. Exercise is now, thankfully, again part of my routine. I look forward to my sessions and am reaching my goals - in a sustainable way. I would strongly recommend John! A former professional body builder, his training would work well for those fit and in shape but looking for a guide or those, like me, who have let other things get in the way and need a trainer to prompt accountability and provide for a calendared time to workout. John is exceptional in his ability to adapt and adjust routines and exercises to meet your personal needs and capacities. My only regret is that I didn't contact him sooner!

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

    My advice to a potential client is to look closely at compatibility with the trainer. Does his or her experience match up closely with your individual needs and desires? Don't be fooled by too many fancy certifications if there is a lack of real world experience. Does the trainer utilize these techniques in his or her own workout regime? Make sure the trainer is reliable and that your personalities gel with one another.
