Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Stay away from hiring someone from these non-local websites that advertise in Houston, Chicago and every where else.... they will be expensive and send any Joe Schmoe to your home.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. If I where a customer I wish I knew how to replace my own torsion springs.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. We give you an honest assessment of the garage door or opener that needs to be repaired. Many times I come out and the customer believes they probably need a new garage door or motor and to their relief its a relatively simple fix. On new installations we give you the best prices on labor and our installers have over 10 years experience so you won't get rookie mistakes.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I like when we are able to save our customers some money while putting some money in our own pockets. We are out to make a living and get word of mouth customers ....over charging people for simple repairs just isn't right.....so we like hearing " I'm glad we called you guys"

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. The most common question when we install a new garage door is probably "what do you do with the old door".......Answer: The old garage doors end up in Mexico and the wood is recycled.

When we do a repair the question usually is : "What caused that to break...is that normal?"
Answer: Well....that answer depends on the particular situation.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. Yes... This elderly lady kept wanting to hug me after I fixed her garage door....she for some reason thought she had to buy a new one. I had given her a quote over the phone for a new one actually and when I came out to measure the door....I was like wait why do you want a new door....it was just a spun cable and the door was cock-eyed. So I fixed it then she started wanting to hug me....I was thinking really Its not that big a deal its not like I saved your dog from oncoming traffic....its just a garage repair.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. Every once in while there's a new product to learn about but for the most part...change in the garage door industry is slow or the improvements are not so radical that you need to go to training.
