Introduction: From beginners to advanced, ages 6 to 60, I'll teach you what you want to play. Whether your goal is having fun at home or playing onstage, I have helped many, many students to make music part of their lives.
I teach reading, Classical music, Blues, current music and classic rock.
I am also the director of the CMS San Diego County Rock Show, and my students often perform in that program.

My son took guitar lessons from John for 3 years. He was a great teacher! My son is now using his knowledge for making beats.

John McDonald is a great guitar teacher! He gets you playing right away! He puts kids together to play in bands and perform. I highly recommend John for guitar lessons!

John mcdonald taught my son how to play guitar at age 8 and he's still loving to play at age 17! John is the best teacher! He goes above and beyond when it comes to teaching and his love for music is shown in his passion for teaching. He takes the time to organize a band with his students and coordinates venues for the kids to play on stage which is such a great thing cuz it helped our son become confident in front of people. We moved away a few years ago and still keep in touch with john. Cam continues to play and it is in part to Johns wonderful teaching. We highly recommend john to everyone who wants to learn to play an instrument!

Over the years of taking lessons from John, we collaborated on a collection of original songs and recorded and produced a full album!
