I have been in business since 1997. I can do all phases of home and small business repair.

I started out in life as an electrician and got bored doing the same thing all the time. I ended up doing all the electrical work in a bar in downtown San Diego that was being renovated called Tivoli Bar & Grill.

Well, five brothers own the bar and I did work at all their homes. And by word of mouth, I've been in business as a handyman ever since. I was so busy I had to quit my electrician’s job six months later.

I have plenty of references if you need them.

God (who is my boss) gave me a very mechanically-inclined mind so there is basically nothing I cannot repair. I even do automotive work, including automatic transmissions, which I have rebuilt three already without any problems.

I am very honest and hardworking and have never had to advertise to get business. I'm advertising thru Thumbtack.com because I don't get very much exposure in the Orange County.

I also give senior citizen discounts.

No job is too small.

Honey-do lists are my favorite. So don't be shy give the get’er done handyman a try. I promise you won't be disappointed.

All labor is guaranteed.

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Hire some you are refered to by a friend or family because they have already been satisified with that persons work.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Well like most customers want to know how I can fix just about anything. I tell it's a gift from God and lots of practice, because to achive perfection you must practice. Believe me it is not easy and a lot of things I don't know nor can I fix them. But most everything around your home I can fix.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. Basically you answered your own question already. They should know what they want done before hand that way I know what I have to buy to get the job done without delays.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. Because I get it done right and it looks good. If the customer is happy then I've done the job right.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I do not do the samething day after day. That I can meet new people and become friends with most of them. I like knowing that I am saving my customers lots of money by them not going to a contractor and still getting the same or better satisfaction.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. They usually want to know how to fix wharever I am fixing at there home or business. So I usually tell them or show them.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. I don't really have favorite but I can say I do have lots of fun when I am working at one of my roomates siblings houses and the grand kids are there. It's so much fun to teach them and to see there faces light up when they learn something new.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. That it is not easy and that there is always a tool for the job. So if your a handyman you have to have lots of tools for all the different jobs. That is why I ask them what all they need done so I bring the right tools.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. Because I had been an electrician to long and was bored doing the samething every day.

Q. What are your most common types of jobs?

A. Well pretty much everything in your home I do on a regular basis. But mostly I get popcorn removal and re-texturing jobs (well lately anyway) a lot.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. A livingroom I just remodeled. I took all the wall paper off the walls and took down the popcorn ceiling. Then I retextured both and painted. I sanded the hardwood floors that were stained pretty bad over the years of having carpet on them. They are blonde oak so I left them bare and just put 3 coats of clear over them per my customers order. I also plumbed in and set up a 55" LED flatscreen tv and a 5.1 Sony surround sound system. Re-painted the fireplace and am going to install new fire place doors when they come in. There are pictures if you would like to see them.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. Just keeping up on any new codes in all of the trades I work in is all the education you need, plus lots of hands on training of course. That's how you really learn a trade, lots of hands on practice.

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. There is always something new coming out in the handyman trade, a new tool or type of material or way of doing a job that I could talk all day on the subject. But I can say that I love the saw they came out with a couple years back. They actually have a saw that will not cut your finger off when you hit the blace with it!!! Its works by the static electricty that you store in your body. The blade detects the static electricty when you finger comes in contact with it and a brake grabs the blade and rips it away faster than it can cut your finger. You won't even have a scratch. They have one on display at Louis and Company if your interested.

Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.

A. That would be the livingroom I just did. I explaned what was involved in an eariler answer but I will tell you the cost and how long it took. It took about 80 hours or two weeks @ $25 an hour. Including the TV and Surround Sound it cost about $3,415.00 plus labor = $5,415.00

Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.

A. N/a

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?

A. Get-er-done its fun if you like this sort of thing. Just know what you are getting into before you start a job.

Q. Write your own question and answer it.

A. What was first the chicken or the egg? That's simple of course. The chicken because where would the egg come from if there was no chicken. The chickien God created first so we could have eggs and more chickens.

I've known Cliff Tyner for several years and used his sevices several times. He's always done a wonderful job - whether it's household or automative repairs he never lets me down. He is always available - most of the time he can fit me in the next day, but always within 2-3 days. He always cleans up after himself and his rates are always reasonable. I would recommend him without hesitation and he's telling the truth when he says "No job too big or too small". I know that whatever the job is, if I hire Cliff I won't be disappointed!!
