I am an enthusiastic, extremely creative problem solver who can help you revamp your home or place of work. My projects vary from detail-oriented 16-month commercial projects to simple two-day decorating gigs.
I'm a great listener with an eye for color, and can be as involved or uninvolved as you prefer! I graduated with both an interior design degree and a general business degree, and I have worked in the industry for several years.
I have extensive knowledge in color psychology, green/universal design, feng shui, art history and textiles. My list of credentials, reference letters, portfolios and client accolades are available upon request.
I don't believe in crazy upcharges, or in trying to sell you some crap you don't want. I just want to provide honest, educated and creative solutions. I'll get a few unique pieces to bring some personality to your room, and I can even paint your walls and move furniture around for you.
Let me improve not only the aesthetics in your space, but also the functionality, ambiance and comfort.

I recently moved to a new city, and purchased a new condo. I reached out to Melissa from Interiors by Missy. She created a space that I am finding more and more enjoyable. She re-created my vision within my time frame and budget. My style is casaul luxury, she made my space comfortable yet luxurious with dark, warm colors and she found pieces that are so unique and different I know no one else would have. She also brought in couple of new accent colors that totally complete my room. I agreed with every decision or idea she brought to me. But most of all and most importantly, I was able to trust her with making decisions, and complying with my budget. She always engaged in open communication so I was involved every step of the way. I highly recommend Interiors by Missy to anyone who is looking for fresh ideas and honesty.

Question and answer
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. Design is ALWAYS changing! I never stop being a designer, even on my days off I am inspired by color combinations, a new lighting fixture I notice somewhere, or an ambiance I want to recreate in a coffee shop or anywhere I may be. Trends in design come and go just as in fashion, but some things are classically beautiful.
Also with Interior Design, there are so many aspects to getting a design project done-- electricians, lighting consultants, plumbers, architects, suppliers, construction workers, manufacturers, etc.! It takes a great team and I'm lucky I have some hard working, honest people to collaborate with.
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. I really want my clients to be thrilled with the results-- not just satisfied. I am very passionate about Interior Design and I am never pushy with a certain name brand to use, store to purchase from or anything like that. I always want the space to reflect YOU. I have no hidden agenda and don't have to make a daily quota or earn a certain percentage of your budget, as some designers have to keep their jobs. I work for myself and this gives me the freedom to chose which manufacturers, contractors and products are really best for you as the client-- not for my corporate company or boss. Plus, I'm enthusiastic, bubbly, artistic, creative and a great listener!
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. Working with my clients-- especially those who aren't afraid of color and trying something new and fun. Interior Design is so personal because I am invited into your home or work place and get to see how you truly live and act with your spouse, children, or co-workers. I am passionate about people, new designs, and very excited to be working in beautiful, bustling Southern California.
Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.
A. My initial consultation is complimentary. I want to get a feel for your project, your wants and needs from the space, your budget, deadlines, etc. From there I charge by the hour for my services-- less for time spent researching, sketching and working out the schematics of the design process. I charge a little bit more for days when I'm meeting with contractors or clients and driving quite a bit to compensate for gas mileage. If you would rather negotiate one flat rate, this is always possible as well!
As I've previously stated, I don't have any hidden agendas or quotas to make, as I may if I worked for a full-staffed Architecture or Design firm. If you just want to go for a trip to the flea market with a pair of trained eyes, I would love to accompany you! I won't ask for a percentage of your purchases and force anything upon you.
