FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As a Certified Interior Designer, I am required to take 10 hours of continuing education every two years. Also, with the rapid expansion of social networking and apps, it is imperative to stay abreast of these developments.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was looking for career options after leaving the Navy. I've always had a strong creative force and after attending an antique show in which several pieces sparked my imagination of how they should be showcased, I realized I had a calling for interior design.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I am regularly called in to solve a particular problem ... say window coverings. During that project, I will ask if there are other issues the client would like me to investigate or I may make recommendations that may enhance the room's appearance. Usually a rapport is immediately established and I will be called back to address all new design issues. I have transformed a simple request to suggest decorative lighting for kitchen remodel into providing a whole home paint scheme, new window coverings and reupholstering some furniture. It's all about understanding the individual's preferences and building a climate of trust that enables me to keep returning to my valued clients.
