Maria is not only highly professional, she is very kind and nice. She did my mom's makeup, my friends' and mine for my wedding. Everyone got compliments. Her technique is flawless and highly recommended.

I didn't really wear makeup, never learned how. Maria did mine for me a few months ago, and I was amazed - what a difference! She knows what she is doing, she's kind and sweet, and she teaches you everything you want to learn. She's extremely professional, her prices are good, and I couldn't recommend her more highly.

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. I mostly do Bridal and Fashion work in the make up industry.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Ask lots of questions and bring pictures.
~ What time will your wedding be?
~ Will your wedding be indoors or outdoors?
~ What will the lighting be like?
~ What are your main colors?
~ Material/Style of dress?
~ Is there a certain look you want?
~ If you have allergies to certain products, tell the artist up front.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. There are no rules in make up! It is a nice service to get your make up done because you will find out about how to best use products.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. Before hiring a make up artist the client should always do a trial run at least two months before the wedding. If you can, get it done when you know you're going out so you can see how the make up wears after a few hours. At the trial bring a picture of yourself that you think is really good and bring a picture of a magazine where you really liked the look.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I like meeting new clients and figuring out how to make them look their best.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. I most commonly get, "What is your favorite mascara" Right now I love Benefit BAD GAL mascara and of course, Dior Show!

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. I am proud when my customers are happy with the way they look. I want to work with clients to achieve the look that will make them feel and look their best, that's why I require a trial run before the big day.

A. As a MAC Pro artist I take professional development at MAC Pro stores and I have taken other make up specific classes in L.A.

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. Latest developments are better formulated foundations and longer mascaras.

Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.

A. I just did Taste of the Cove in La Jolla, it is a great event, I have been working this event for 6 years.
