Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Picking a painter is tough because there are many to choose from in this market. Determine why you want to hire a painter: selling a home, moving into a home, don't want to do it yourself, like things clean and neat and in great shape, etc. A quality painting company that has been around awhile will typically be very reliable and provide a good finished product. Hiring a more established company might cost a little more up front, but they will probably be around when you need them again. They typically provide a better customer experience up front and in years to come. You are also paying primarily labor. Paint materials are not that expensive: 10-15% of the total job. So hire someone you really like and trust.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Painting is not easy! It may look easy, but there are the many details that go into a good paint job. What makes painting more difficult is all the time it takes to setup and prepare a surface to receive a good quality paint. Then you need the right tools and the right products. Also, painting trim work requires years of practice to do it well. If a painter hasn't been painting long and said he is good at painting trim, beware.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. How long have you been in business? What makes you different from other paint companies? Why do your clients typically hire you? What type of warranty do you offer? What do I do if I have a problem or have a question about my paint job in 2 years from now, and how will you handle that? What types of paints do you use and why? Do you subcontract your work or have your own employees? How long have they been working for you? What kind of training do you offer your employees?

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. Our painters are truly great people. This is not a job for them. They are true professionals. Many of our competitors have commented about our company and the quality of our work. Our painters have been with us longer than most other painting businesses: some as long as 26 years! It is our painters who make the difference!

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I like our our customers and serving them. I like our painters who make serving our clients easy! I trust that they will do a fantastic job.
