I have been studying Swing, Latin and Ballroom dance since 1986, and teaching dance since 1994. Teaching and sharing my enjoyment of dance with other people is extremely rewarding for me. I like teaching a variety of people, from those who are first starting out, to the more advanced dancer and those interested in competition. I teach social, as well as competitive dancing. I especially love to help wedding couples with their first dance, and other dance related wedding arrangements.

Working with couples on their first dance is one of my specialties. Even if they have never danced before I can make their first dance a comfortable and fun experience. Along with private instruction for the first dance, I can teach mini-group lessons for the bridal party, and teach dance lessons and/or perform a professional dance exhibition at the reception.

I have been certified as a professional dance instructor by:

* Terpsichore Association
* NDCA (National Dance Council of America)
* DVIDA (Dance Vision International Dancers Association)
* USISTD (United States International Society of Teachers of Dance)

Question and answer

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I learned so much from dance – it helped me to come out of my shell and be more comfortable with people. I used to be very shy but I don’t think anyone who knows me now would say that about me. Dancing gave me confidence, made me feel happy, improved my posture, helped me with weight control and allowed me to meet tons of people I wouldn’t have otherwise known. Plus I love to perform, and dancing gives me that too. From the beginning when I started ballroom classes in junior high I wanted to share this with others and would teach anyone and everyone who would let me. I began teaching in 1994 and received my first teaching certification in the Terpsichore Association in 1995. I still like to learn new things whenever I have the time.

Q. What is your greatest strength?

A. I really enjoy working with people of all levels but I think my greatest strength is that I am great with people who are new to dance. I remember how difficult it was in the beginning and I can empathize when someone else is struggling. I also learned not to be too hard on myself and I try to pass that on to my students. Dancing should be fun and learning to dance should be enjoyable too!
