Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. How much Accounting do i really need to know to maintain my books and records. Key plan on eventually getting a good bookkeeper!!
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. Having first the ability to help my struggling clients get a hold of an accounting system that they can learn..and manage...without it the systems managing them.
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. DoI have to know accounting to manage my accounting system?
Not really,however you have to be able to accurate record accounting transactions. I will do the first month with you.....you just need to duplicate what i did in the months to come.
Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?
A. I started at Heald Business College finished with an accounting & systems concentration...thenworked in the field for 10 years before branching out on my own.
Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?
A. Accounting software is much more robust today...with online versions of the software....allowing startups to eliminate the cost of expensive servers.......Most exciting is instead of going out and purchasing accounting software with additional needed features as your company grows. There are many cool third-party applications that give you the extra functionality with out the excessive cost.
Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?
A. Take several accounting classes and perhaps think about getting certified in at least "1" accounting software package.
