It’s easy to get stuck in bad patterns of relating to each other, but it’s less easy to create healthy ones. Couples counseling can help change your patterns to healthy ones.
Too often, people just end relationships, only to end up in a new dysfunctional relationship with a new set of problems, rather than take the time to work on the relationship they’re already in.
I’m a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) who has trained in couples therapy and been seeing clients since 1993. I have seen couples go through major transformations, when both parties are willing.
I can help you and your partner learn to fight fair, practice reflective listening in intentional dialogue, communicate your needs to your partner, learn to ask for what you want, and have a relationship free of criticism, contempt, defensiveness, and stonewalling (withdrawing). My approach is based on the work of John Gottman and Harville Hendrix.
I offer a generous sliding scale fee and take Aetna and Blue Shield Insurance. I have offices in San Francisco and have nights and weekend appointments available.
