FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My appointment structure varies with the individual needs of the client, but I generally work as follows: 1st Appointment: We go through your closet, and decide what to keep, what to tailor, and what to give or throw away. I'll pin your alterations myself as we go along. Once we've gone through everything, we'll sit down and identify the needs in your wardrobe by talking about your lifestyle, personal taste, work environment, and any future events we need to consider. Between the 1st and 2nd appointments, I'll take the garments that need tailoring to a tailor, and also do some pre-shopping to set aside items we'll be looking at together during the 2nd appointment. 2nd Appointment: We pick up your tailoring, and briefly discuss what to look for when we're shopping together so we can identify the pieces that will best serve the needs of your wardrobe and lifestyle. As we shop together, I'll explain features of the clothes, and guide you to the best fit and quality possible. 3rd Appointment (optional): Now that you have new and fantastic clothes, and everything we may have ordered online has arrived, we go through your closet, and I teach you the fundamentals of outfit-building so you can understand how to put together great looks for any event or occasion
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I began my trip into style and fashion in an unorthodox way--I learned about clothes first from the internet. I was an early teen, and used fashion as a tool to improve my self-image. My goal with every client is to help their confidence improve like mine did! Soon after, I began working for Club Monaco as a Men's and Women's stylist, taking my knowledge and passion for passing that confidence to others, and eventually training my peers to do the same! After I left Club Monaco, I served at SuitSupply in both New York City and San Francisco as a sales associate and training manager. I have worked with literally thousands of clients -- A-list celebrities, politicians, businessmen, teens and college students. I am intimately familiar with tailored clothing, and can discern subtleties of fit based on thousands of hours of experience in tailoring. Now, I take private clients young and old, and work to educate and empower them to make style choices based on the best advice and education I can offer. My goal is not just to make you look good, but to give you the tools necessary to leave the appointment more knowledgeable than many stylists are themselves.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I have experience with clients of every shape, size, race, and budget! Because I have training and experience in pinning, alterations, and tailoring, I can help to dial in any garment for a perfect fit. I've worked with men looking for total wardrobe overhauls, or simply looking for help with a special event -- like a wedding or engagement photo shoot, a job interview, or a vacation.
