- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I grew up a big boy. I had a steady diet of junk food and didn't care much for physical activity. In college, something changed in me and I decided to change my ways. I worked with a personal trainer for three years and he set me on the path to physical wellbeing. For some time, I've had it in the back of my mind to become a personal trainer and recently made the decision to get my certification. I couldn't be happier.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
Three weeks into training, one of my elderly clients shared with me that before we began working together, she couldn't reach down to clip her toenails and now she can!
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Spend at least three sessions with your trainer before you decide to continue or stop working together. There is a lot going on during a session. You're learning new techniques, learning to communicated with one another, and building rapport. If you're not feeling it after three sessions, move on.
