FAQs
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure your therapist is educated, licensed and insured. Take into consideration the years in business and that they have a very clean environment. Your initial conversation should feel fluid and comfortable.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
This is my Masseur or is it Masseuse? I get this question all the time. To put it simply these are antiquated terms that have negative connotations. I will bullet point it for you: * Masseuse= this is the feminine term for Masseur ( so right off the bat you cant use this in reference to me ;-) * Masseur= is the French word for a person that performs massage. Leading me to my next definition. * Massage therapist=Here we go. This is the most widely accepted term in the bodywork industry. Within the definition of Massage Therpaist there are more specific titles commonly used: CMT- Certified Massage therapist- Said person received certification, upon completing of massage therapy course, from an accredited school. LMT-Licensed Massage Therapist- Said person was issued a license by city or state to perform bodywork. To do so you must already be a CMT. The term Masseuse/Masseur was and is used in conjunction with escorts and sex workers. The massage therapy industry has worked very hard to remove itself from these labels. I know that when it is used ,in reference to myself, I dont find it offensive. I know it wasnt intended to be. However, seeing as how this is a booming industry, I think it pertinent to explain the difference and to educate others.
