Introduction: Enthusiastic educator with years of tutoring and teaching experience.
I offer my services to high school, college students, and adult learners in math and science. I will consider younger learners, but admittedly have less teaching experience with K-6. I will also help students with college and grad school applications. My rates and contract conditions are negotiable and I will also consider tutoring groups.
About me:
I've had a knack and passion for teaching since I was in college, and enjoy helping students achieve their academic goals. My philosophy on teaching is to focus on the "why" as well as the "how". I find that students get into trouble when they try to narrowly understand processes in isolation, and don't consider how each of these separate processes tie back together.
My day job is in health policy, economics, and behavioral research. I also used to do some cell/molecular biology. I hold a BA in Physiology and Child Psychology from the University of Minnesota, and a SM in Health Policy and Management from the Harvard School of Public Health. I can send my full resume and references upon request.
My teaching highlights include:
-Tutored math, chemistry, and the biological sciences for SEIU-UHW and Joint Employer Education Fund pre-nursing students. I have also instructed short biology and chemistry review courses.
-Tutored multiple students for the yearly required Kaiser Permanente drug dosage exam.
-Taught science, psychology, and math up to pre-calculus at a private high school specializing in one-on-one learning.
-TA for a general biology laboratory as well as an Anatomy/Physiology laboratory in college.
-America Reads tutor for K-5.
