FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Fitness is a science and there is always something new coming up. Currently, I am going to get another licence in training. Having decided which to choose yet:)
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Almost 6 years ago, after coming to America, I started gaining weight. I felt horrible, my clothes didn't fit me properly, the sense of confidence disappeared somewhere. Being inexperienced and very young I gave myself different excuses "new country- new food", " you can't do anything about it", " everyone gains extra weight while getting older", so on so forth.. Though, my inner voice never allowed me to give up. My first step towards this problem was running. I was running every evening until I got a plastic surgery on my right foot. I stepped on a needle. Thanks God, it happened at my place and I didn't got any life threatened infections. I was bedribbed for couple weeks and physically inactive for couple months. People who train regularly can understand what emotional damage i got when it happened. So, it was the most terrible time in my life since I couldn't do anything to take care of my shape. Running on hard surface wasn't possible for me and then one of my friends took me to the gym and I slowly started running on a treadmill. At the same time I was doing "light" workouts to keep my abs toned. Yes, only abs:) I was one of those girls who thought that lifting heavy weights would turn me into a huge and manly looking girl. After a while, I felt like "nah, i need to keep the balance and work on my whole body" and that was a moment when my workout routine has changed and a new addiction appeared - resistant training. At the same time, I tried my first ever diet a "South Beach" diet and it worked perfectly. I was able to get rid of all those extra pounds that were bothering me. My food options were super different than before: I cut refined sugars for good and started (still) indulging on vegetables and fruits. The more I was playing with my menu, the more I started interested in Nutrition and, eventually, that pushed me to link it to my future profession. So, I am at school right now to get my Registered Dietitian status one day:) Gym became my biggest addiction. It was / is the best remedy to feel better, to be stronger. And my next step was " something different, something that i have never done/tried" - bodybuilding competition. It was my main 2013 NY resolution. Decision to compete wasn't about looking better than any other girls but proving myself that I can be better than I was before. After 6 months of strict clean diet and killing workouts I hit the stage at NPC Contra Costa Bodybuilding Show and took 4th place. It was my biggest accomplishment of the year but not the last:) A month later I was enrolled in National Academy of Sport Medicine and got my license in personal training. Now, I am happily help other people to get in the best shape they can by creating individualized workout routines and educating them about healthy food choices. A year later I got my corrective specialist certification and my skills are broader now. In June 2014 I did my another show with WBFF and got in top 5, my next goal is to win a pro card and compete at World Championship... to be continued...
