- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My rates are dependent on two factors, A.) what I'm actually shooting, and B.) how those images will be used. For personal projects (i.e. portraits), usage rights aren't much of a factor, but marketing material (i.e. any image used in hopes to generate revenue) should and will be negotiated to reflect the scope of your market, length of usage, and image placement. To clarify: There's a huge difference between BigNameFashionDesigner wanting to shoot an ad campaign that would be in major magazines, versus an new designer needing photos to use on Etsy. I would never dream of charging the same rate for either client, so better understanding your needs and goals helps me estimate a fair price for your project.

- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Only 15% of my job is actually shooting. The rest is marketing, research, editing, planning, and all of the nitty-gritty that makes that 15% actually happen. But I *love* that 15%, so I do what I can to make sure it happens as often as possbible.
