Introduction: Please note that I get charged if you contact me, so please don't contact me for organic chemistry, physical chemistry or biochemistry because it will cost me money and I won't tutor you. Thanks! Hi, I’m Patricia Babin. I’m a retired biochemist with a PhD in biochemistry. I passionately love teaching chemistry. I’ve been tutoring for the past 9 years and I won awards for teaching while I was in graduate school. If you think all online education is the same, think again and be sure to read my reviews on this website. I tried multiple platforms to find what worked best for my students and didn’t stop until I found something great. I've invested in the equipment and software necessary for smooth, online tutoring. For my students, it's as if I'm in the classroom with them, writing on a whiteboard. That's really important - I want them focused on the concepts - not distracted by problems with online learning!! All of my students receive a pdf copy of the whiteboard we worked on during their session within 5 minutes of the end of our session. Also, if you'd like, I can record the lesson so that your student can listen to the lesson again in case they missed anything. I store all their recorded lessons for the entire course. There is no extra charge for this. I've actually had people say to me that they believed someone with a PhD would be less able to communicate chemistry or biology to high school students. They thought a PhD would present concepts at too high a level. The truth is that, if you have a PhD, you better understand the subject matter really well. And if you understand it really well, then you should be able to communicate it in simple terms. I think that's why I'm able to help students so much. I really love my subject matter, I really understand it and I can explain in simple terms. I never tell my students to just memorize chemistry. My motto is that students should understand chemistry so they don't have to memorize it. It's impossible to memorize your way through honors or AP chemistry, but that's what you're forced to do if you have a teacher or a tutor who doesn't give a great explanation. Please contact me for more information.

Dr. Babin is a gem. My son was struggling with Chemistry and unable to connect with his teacher’s method of teaching. As soon as he began doing weekly sessions with Dr. Babin, my son experienced increased confidence, an improvement in his grades, and, best of all, a renewed love of science. I can’t recommend this tutor highly enough! She is amazing.

Dr. Babin is dedicated, organized and presents the material in a manner that my daughter can understand. She is able to organize the topics and reinforce me daughters understanding of the topics, which gives her the confidence to continue to learn new material.

Dr. Babin tutored our son in Chemistry Honors over the summer and has helped him build confidence in the subject. He not only understands the concepts he is also enjoying exploring the topics more deeply in preparation for AP Chemistry this year. She has been super professional and brings a wealth of experience to help students achieve their best. I highly recommend Dr.Babin and am so glad to be working with her.

Dr. Babin worked with my son during his sophomore year on Chemistry and now is tutoring my son for AP Biology. She has done an amazing job of not only filling in the gaps in my son's knowledge but also inspiring him to actually learn the subject. Given her background, she often discusses other career choices and interests with my son which is a huge plus as he tries to figure out his path forward in college. She is extremely kind, professional and an amazing person overall.

Thank you for your kind words, Soumya. I really do enjoy also providing college information and some additional ideas on careers for students who haven't decided on majors. I spent almost all of my adult life either studying, teaching, or doing research in major universities so I certainly know a lot about how they operate, especially in the technical fields and I really enjoy sharing that information with my students. For any parent who might be reading this, I also send out a yearly letter to parents on college planning for colleges that DON'T include loans in their student aid packages. That way, students can leave college without being in debt.
