Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.
A. People looking to make a change in their lives and stop spinning over and over the story of pain in their body.
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Come to work. I facilitate healing. I’m not a Healer, I’m not a Yoga Guru, I don’t hold the magic cure in my hands. I create a space for you to do the healing, whatever shape that may come in. Within my own history of chronic pain and dis-ease I learned that there is no “cure” because there is no disease. We create dis-ease and we have the power to change it. I can help you do that. Ask me how.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. The look on a client's or student's face when they suddenly reach a point of clarity. The "ah ha!" moment! I love seeing people unlock and connect with their bodies.
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. What kind of Yoga is this?
I teach a very free form of yoga called.... YOGA. It is whatever it needs to be depending on the client's or folks in class needs. I call it "non-denominational" yoga;-)
Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?
A. I had chronic pain and Western doctors just kept feeding me drugs.... I was 13 years old! This continued through 3 surgeries and then I discovered Acupuncture, Yin Yoga and Ayurveda. These helped me learn about my body and how to balance it. I have been pain free for over 5 years now and in better physical shape then I was 15 years ago!
Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.
A. This past August I took 4 of my students to India for 15 days of Yoga and Ayurveda. While there we got to do some sightseeing, took a cooking class and did a TON of shopping! It was my first time leading a retreat and I learned so much. I am in the process of putting together another, more leisurely, retreat in Venezuela for late 2011 or early 2012. Stay tuned!
Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?
A. I try to go to India every year to study and get in touch with the land Ayurveda and Yoga was birthed from. i also take advantage of the cheap cost of books while there and stock up on some amazing books to read. And of course, everytime I get on my own mat or help a student I learn tons!
