Introduction: COVID-19 UPDATE: I am fully vaccinated and offering both in person (with masks) and online lessons. Private lessons will advance you further and faster than anything else you can do - regardless of your current skill level. Imagine hearing a song for the first time and instantly playing along with it. Imagine understanding songs, not just memorizing a series of notes and chords. My mission is to help you master the guitar as a true musician. You won’t just learn how to play a song or solo over a progression. You will learn what makes the song work, how to manipulate it, add to it, change it, and mold it into anything you desire. I teach students that range from absolute beginners to advanced guitarists and provide each of them with the same attention and dedication - assessing the areas that need work and patiently guiding them through the process to reach their goals. Mark is an excellent guitar teacher. He not only teaches practicing guitar skills, but also talks about the theory behind the music and guitar, which makes it easy for me to understand what I'm doing, and really intrigues my interests towards guitar. The lesson environment is great. It is in Mark's studio where there are keyboard, drums, and a big screen around, which makes me feel really nice.

I had a great experience with Mark. I am an intermediate guitar player that wanted to deepen my understanding of soloing over the blues. Mark is a talented musician, deeply rooted in theory. He has the feel of a studio musician, able to sound great over a wide variance of styles. As a teacher, he has a knack for taking complicated subjects and breaking them down into understandable bite-size lessons. My advice for intermediate learners interested in Mark as a teacher: 1. Come with a defined goal 2. Practice throughout the week 3. Remind Mark exactly where you left off and don't be afraid to ask for specific lessons pertaining to what you want to learn If you keep these things in mind you'll be able to make the most out of your time with him!

I've recently started taking beginner guitar lessons from Mark. So far it's been a great experience, even with my zero musical background. Mark really focuses on making the experience fun and identifies well how to motivate me as an individual, by teaching me songs I'm passionate about and making me understand how the music I like was made. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Tuition is payable monthly and due the first lesson of the month. Check, PayPal or cash accepted.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I start by asking my students about their prior music experience (if any), be it guitar or other instruments. I want to know what music they like to listen to and what about that music excites them. For more advanced students we will discuss their music education to identify any areas that need to be revisited.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have studied guitar and music theory almost my entire life. Over the decades I have taken numerous private lessons from many great musicians and read piles of books on guitar, music theory, composition, and audio engineering. I am and will forever be a student of music and the guitar.
