Gearing up for the season, don't forget your early cleanings, as you don't want to forget the money it will put in your pocket! – Jan 26, 2012 at 4:13 pm
Shine On Solar is a solar panel cleaning service that cleans without the use of chemicals or detergents. Our process enables us to clean with a minimal impact to the environment.
Since no chemicals are used, we eliminate the need for an additional rinse, thus saving water. We average just over a half a gallon of water per panel!
We are fully insured and can offer referrals from satisfied customers that not only have been happy about their clean panels but also are ecstatic about the increased energy production.
We are equipped to clean commercial, as well as residential installations. We clean hard to reach sky lights as well.
A. What are your cleaning methods? What is the time-frame in which I need to have my panels cleaned? How frequently should I get my solar panels cleaned?
These are all good questions, and all questions that will help you ultimately make a decision. Shine on Solar uses no chemicals and is entirely pollution free due to the use of deionized water. Solar panels need to be cleaned while cool, this is why we recommend cleanings either in the morning or evening, as the panels have time to be ready for cold water. The recommended amount of times per year entirely depends on your surroundings. We suggest at least once a year in the bay area due to high amounts of smog and extremely high pollen in some areas.

A. How often should I clean my panels? It all depends on your soil load. If you live near a highway or in an agricultural or a dusty environment the soil load may be higher. If you have a monitoring system, then you can check to see how much your production is down from the previous year. If you are down 3-5% then you want to consider cleaning your panels. Test have shown that without cleaning, you average a drop in production 5% a year in the Bay Area.
