    On two occassions, my company went through a major downsizing, I was laid off, and I received outplacement benefits that included career coaching. I found this service to be very helpful, both emotionally and professionally. The first time, I found a better job in only 2 months. The second time, I the assessment exercises led me to make a career change from corporate marketing to mental health counseling.

    Look at their credentials, see if they have testimonials from other customers, ask if they offer a complimentary consultation, ask about their fee structure, and determine if they are willing to work within your budget.
