Introduction: Hello! Thanks so much for checking out my profile. I've been a health, fitness & wellness professional for over 25 years, training clients locally in their homes or coaching them over the phone or internet all over the world. I am passionate about helping women (and more men these days as well) overcome challenges in their relationship with both food and their bodies. There's much more to health and wellness than simply diet and exercise. You won't get the same old thing disguised in new and "improved" packaging with me. If you're struggling with what you "should" or "shouldn't" be eating, or you're dealing with food obsession, emotional eating or even binge eating, I can help. I lived with binge eating myself for 25 years (along with going on one diet after another only to gain more and more weight) and only recovered when I addressed my relationship with food and my body. Since my recovery almost 15 years ago, I've worked with hundreds of women who wanted to make peace with food and their bodies so they could reclaim their lives and finally find happiness and fulfillment. I am a Health at Every Size advocate, a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, and chances are if you're struggling with some aspect disordered eating or body image issues, I have been where you are and I can help you move forward - no matter how long it's been going on or how different or hopeless you may think your situation is. My hope is to help you find pleasure in eating and movement in your life, without either being a struggle or a "should." My approach is different, but we've all tried everything else, right? I know how frustrating it is to live in a culture that consistently says you aren't good enough unless you look or act a certain way - especially since most of us will never, ever be able to achieve such ridiculous standards. I'll help you find peace with food and your body, develop the compassion for yourself that you need to live the life you want, and all with the intention that you'll be confident and empowered to move forward on your own, without becoming dependent on a trainer, coach or other professional to maintain your new behaviors and habits. It will simply feel good to do so! I am always happy to meet with you in person (if you're local) or by phone or internet at no charge to discuss your specific situation, goals, and dreams. Gillian knows her stuff, impressive breadth of experience. She knew just the Pilates & Yoga routine which would help my back tall person's back with emotional tension. I didn't have to risk worse injury or waste time with bad Yoga advice on Youtube & elsewhere. Plus she's a dear and pleasure to work with.

Gillian is very upbeat and encouraging. She explains things so you can understand. She was really intent on knowing my boundaries and was sure to put my health and well-being first. Other trainers did not take my personal health into consideration which caused further damage. Working with Gillian I was able to reverse some of that damage. Thanks Gillian! You Rock!

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

    I have a Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology, which I received in 2003. I also hold the following certifications: • ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) Certified Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-EP) • National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) • International Coach Federation Associate Certified Coach (ICF ACC) • Wellcoaches Certified Health & Wellness Coach • Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor I've been a personal fitness trainer since 1995, working with clients in their homes or workplaces. I began coaching in 1998 in fitness, moving into coaching around overcoming emotional eating and making peace with food and body in 2005. I've also worked in physical therapy as an exercise physiologist and in corporate wellness as a health & wellness coach as well as counseling employees on the results of their health screenings. I have extensive training and experience (as well as personal experience) in overcoming disordered eating, emotional eating, chronic dieting and body image issues. I'm very interested in helping women in perimenopause get through this transition without additional stress and further food and body issues, which is rampant in our culture and makes this time of life even more difficult. I am 5 years into perimenopause myself and my experience has taught me this isn't something that needs to be "fixed," it's an opportunity to tune into and work with our bodies to get them exactly what they are asking for.
