"Dear Barbara,

I can't stop crying or stop watching the slideshow! The pictures are so beautiful! You do your profession proud. You are such an artist! I will be even more excited to see the rest of the photographs.

I loved the engagement photos, so I knew that you would do a great job on the wedding photos. I would say you have outdone yourself, but I know you have much more to show the world!

Thanks so much for bring a special touch to the whole event!

Sincerely,
Mother of the Bride
Rhonda Cox"

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. The best piece of advice I can give to someone that is hiring a photographer is this: You should feel as if you made a friend after you meet with him or her. Ask yourself this: Would I party with my photographer ? If the answer is yeah sure or maybe, then YES you have hired the perfect person to document and create wonderful photos of your wedding day. Your comfort level must be very good for you to have non- contrived award winning photographs. Also you want to make sure your photographer has referrals or quotes from his or her clients!

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. I wish I knew the percentage of photos that came from my hired photographer and his or hers assistant. I offer 95-100 % photos from me and maybe 5% from my assistant. Another thing to keep in mind is if your photographer offers any cash paid discounts.

Also it is good to know if they arrive early or the exact "start time". I arrive at least 30 minutes ahead of time giving all my clients an extra 30 minutes of coverage on their wedding day.

Also if you are having a hard time coming up with 50% deposit, some photographers will let you put a 30% deposit instead of a 50%.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Do you have any referrals?
You want to make sure this person is legit, especially if they have not been referred to you.
What is your approach?
I have worked with some photographers that direct the entire time they work giving the couple no time to relax and enjoy the moment as they come. I have also worked with photographers with zero direction and I have seen people get frustrated because they are clueless as to when to look at the camera. Basically you want your photographer to know how to balance their abilities as a director and photojournalist.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. The most thing I like about my work is that it is different. Every couple is different and every wedding is different and I get to document and create new beautiful photographs each time!

Q. What is your greatest strength?

A. I think my greatest strength is making people open up to me. I think its because I'm so open too and transparent.
