FAQs
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I offer all editorial services to published, self-published and not-yet published writers of book-length fiction and non-fiction. An evaluation/critique looks at conceptual issues and discusses plot, character development, continuity, structure, pacing, style, and overall impression. I will make specific comments in the margins of the manuscript, and supply a general written evaluation (usually more than eight pages) of the strengths and weaknesses of your work including ways to improve upon them. These efforts will sharpen your vision. Line editing builds upon that, actually making necessary changes on a line-by-line basis. I will suggest cuts, additions, and changes and look at remaining conceptual, structural, and organizational issues. These efforts will refine your voice. Proofreading/copyediting polishes the manuscript. I will make sure that your manuscript contains no more inconsistencies that Allan is always Allan, and not sometimes Allen or even Ellen. These efforts will prepare your manuscript for agents or publishers. Every manuscript will improve greatly with any of these services. Some, but not all manuscripts may need all these services.
