Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Check referrences for professionalism, quality and cleanliness. Also check the CSLB online to see if any complaints or out standing disciplinary actions have been placed against them.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Why is there such a wide array of pricing? The saying "you get what you pay for" applies heavily to the construction business. Bids for work you want to have done will vary a lot if you are not certain of your scope of work and the quality you are expecting. The question to ask is what quality can I get for my budget. If your budget is low, do not expect a great job.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Ask what service they will provide and what are the steps and sequence to the finish product. If your contractor knows this in detail, then he/she likely knows what they are doing.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. Have a defined scope of work and the level of quality they are willing to pay for. If you are remodeling, have pictures cut out from magizines and trade journals to show to your contractor so that you are both on the same page with design and quality expectations.
