Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. It is essential that a good working relationship is established with your contractor. This is based upon communication and establishing expectations. Your contractor should be willing to listen to you closely and be able to a provide concise answers to your questions or concerns, and provide considerable detail in the contract proposal. Time commitments should be clearly stated and include the daily work schedule and phase completion dates. Trust your instincts about who you hire, and check their referances and license status.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. I believe it is most important that you find a contractor that shares your enthusiasm about your improvement project, and is attentive to your needs. One who is passionate about his craft will surely provide the best service available. Consider that you will be spending considerable time with this person and their staff through the course of the job, so you want to be very comfortable relying on their expertise and honesty. Check referances.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. It is good to exchange ideas about your project with your potential contractor. A contractors experience will be apparent when suggestions are offered that enhance your ideas, and possibly minor changes that can save you money. Consider that If a contractor suggests that you need a new roof before you remodel your kitchen, it is not likely that it is a sales pitch for additional work.
It may be good to ask some technical questions you know the answers to to verify expertise. For example, how low can the upper cabinets be above the countertop? The answer is a minimum of 18".

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. The commitment to quality craftsmanship is apparent in our attention to every detail. We provide designs that are appreciated for functionality and appearance, and we perform our work efficiently and with full consideration of our clients needs. Our passion for our work enables us to take pride in our performance.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. As a contractor specializing in working on occupied homes, I would hope that a potential client would know that we understand that the work we perform requires a degree of finesse.
Proper job site management includes minimizing the inconvenience of our client living in a construction zone, which includes the prevention of hazards, dust, debris, excessive noise and unnecessary disturbance. We always ensure that we minimize the time required to complete projects, and often install a temporary sink and provide a microwave oven for use during a kitchen remodel. All work is scheduled to suit our client.
