FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My hourly rate ranges from $225-$300 / hour and I offer flat fee billing when appropriate as well as limited scope - meaning I will appear at one hearing and handle all matters related to that particular hearing only. I rarely respond to inquires asking "How much do you charge?" because it is pointless without a consultation. An amicable dissolution where the parties are in agreement is going to be less hours - and less expensive than a contested divorce with children and/or other issues such as property division or disputes over assets. Bankruptcies start at $1,800 (inclusive of costs) and go up from there if it is a Chapter 13 or a business is involved.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I work by appointment only. I have no set hours and I do not usually take clients on same day. But it has happened on occaission. Process: Chat briefly on the phone. Schedule an initial consultation to review facts specific to that individual. Send a client engagement agreement in advance so that the potential client has an opportunity to review the agreement away from my office, have it reviewed by another attorney and formulate questions. Then begin work. I expect my clients to work as hard or harder than I do. You have the FACTS! I have the Legal expertise! I cannot use my legal expertise effectively without your proactive engagement and FACTS specific to your circumstances.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Lifelong work as a legal secretary and word processor, theatre owner and actress, award winning writer, producer. Undergraduate Degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and valedictorian of my law school Abraham Lincoln University. I am a people person and I like to put my clients at ease.
