FAQs
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Only hire licensed contractors. An unlicensed contractor may be cheaper in the beginning but may cost you thousands more in the end. Always check the license before you hire a contractor.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
The swimming pool industry, especially in California is basically on a record low. Not because of the economy, because of so many people out there who have no idea what they are doing. Regarding to California law you can perform unlicensed work up to $500 per job. Tat actually includes your regular pool guy. But here is it were the problem begins. Once your pool pump or your filter breaks down and you unlicensed pool guy replaces it, he is way over the $500 and if something happens YOU are liable. What you pa is what you get. There are pool cleaning companies out there that charge only $55 to $65 a month. Seriously. What can you expect from that. Considering the cost of Chlorine, Muriatic acid, Algaecides, Clarifier and of course gas for going there, where do you think is the guy trying to squeeze out his profit? Recently we re-plastered a very nice pool in the Glendale area. It was actually re-plastered only 2 years ago. Not by us by the way. His pool guy however never measured the water before applying chemicals. The pool water was so out of balance that the plaster got soft after only two years.
